Peep
I'm working on editing an installation event about human trafficking called "Peep" done by Jonathan Fung. Peep is shot on a mixture of Super 8 film and iPhone footage. Here's a few stills of the footage.
These still's above show the process of Jonathan and his team creating the installation out of a shipping container. This was to play off the global symbol of trade and commodification which sadly includes the trade of humans. Jonathan contrasts the front outside with bright pink colors and lettering, drawing you in to want to look inside. The backside of the containers stays ugly and undone, representing a metaphor of something that is masked by glamour.
Once you look inside the port holes on the front side you'll see alphabet blocks with children's pictures on them, this is supposed to represent their stolen childhood and loss of innocence. On the other side of the container you'll see/hear sewing machines. This represents the forced labor and never ending sounds of machinery. See below.
Here's the installation being opened up to the public.
